Computer Numerical Control Milling, commonly called CNC milling is the process of making tools and other widgets by some important machine implements. Materials and pieces of metals used for used for widgets parts are usually shaped while being turned or milled. It is imperative to mention that since most of the widgets are relatively new shapes or designs, it makes the milling to be consistent and serially engaging. Some of such turning which includes but not limited to keyway cutting, drilling, slot cutting, rebating and so on require CNC milling for better and smoother process.

In most ordinary milling, there are some human errors that could occur while cutting but this is usually completely eliminated when CNC milling is used because the entire cutting range is remotely controlled by a central computer. It is vital to note there the horizontal and vertical milling machines are the two major types of milling machines that are mostly used. The two are almost the same except that the cutting devices used to metal are mounted different in each of them. While that of the vertical milling machines are usually mounted vertically, the former is normally mounted horizontally too.

It may be right to say that the two types of milling machines are almost the same but the truth is that the horizontal milling machines are more popular than the vertical ones because of the frequency of demand. At some irregular interval during the production process, some uncommon pieces may need to be produced and the appropriate milling machine will be used at such times. There are usually rooms for shallow angles deviation to as little as 15 degree and this is made possible because of the rotary gears that are usually mounted on the table.

The fact that the vertical milling machines are not frequently used as the horizontal milling machines, it is imperative to mention that the vertical CNC milling are usually able to undertake tasks that might have been quite impossible for humans because of its computer-controlled interface. It is also necessary to quickly mention that the vertical milling machines can effortlessly be used to cut Z-axis shapes. This is usually encountered while engraving and it could quite tasking or even impossible if not for CNC milling process.

Before now, CNC milling was as cheap as it generally is today but this is as a result of the drop in computer prices and the availability of many open source computer software. CNC milling is quite popular today and many companies that do the regular milling companies will readily produce the computer-inclined widget on demand.
